Policies and Procedures
Communication: Our main classroom communication will be our private facebook group, Seesaw, and your child's planner/folder. Students will use Seesaw for virtual assignments.
For any personal communication about your child, please call the school or email me directly. Make sure you also follow the school's facebook page and sign up for Illuminate to receive alerts and to check your child's grades. |
DAILY REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Chromebook (Charged and ready!) Blue Folder Planner |
Homework: Homework is only assigned when your child is absent, did not complete classwork, or needs extra practice. Please check Seesaw and your child's folder DAILY for their work. All students are required to read AT LEAST 20 minutes a night and they may borrow up to two books at a time from my classroom library.
Meals and Snacks: The school provides breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for all students. If you choose to send in your own food, please make sure it is not candy or soda. Birthday treats can be brought in but notify the school first and make sure there is enough for all students.
Behavior Expectations and Consequences
School Expectations:
Seek Knowledge Own their actions Are teachable Respect themselves or others |
Classroom Rules:
1. Follow directions quickly. 2. Make smart choices. 3. Be an active learner. Grow your brain! |
Walking Tickets: Students are expected to follow the classroom rules and school expectations. However, there are times when children need to understand that inappropriate behaviors have consequences if they do not follow them. If the behavior is severe enough then a referral will be written and Mr. McKee will decide the consequence, otherwise I will issue a walking ticket instead of taking away recess time. All children need time to get outside and move around so we will not deny them exercise. However, instead of playing and chatting with friends, students who get a walking ticket will be walking in a designated area of our playground during lunch recess. During inclement weather, they will walk in the hallway. Students will not be allowed to chat or walk with friends during this time. Hopefully, they will think about their inappropriate behaviors and try to make better choices in the future.
Students will be given a warning the first time they do not follow the expectations. If the behavior continues, they will be required to walk at recess for 5 minutes. After the ticket is issued, and the behavior continues, 5 more minutes will be required. The student will have to walk the entire recess period if they continue to not meet expectations in 3 or more instances. I will keep a log of tickets issued and send home a report every Thursday. I will schedule a conference if the behavior(s) become excessive. Every student who does not receive a ticket during the week will be able to pick from my prize basket.
